American Express needed to activate their Brighton HQ in line with their new ways of working, offering colleagues more than just a workplace.
The Challenge
Creating a destination to draw colleagues back into work post pandemic.
Our brief was to enhance the colleague user experience by refurbishing both the seating and catering areas, creating a multi-purpose setting that would facilitate collaborative working, dining, company townhalls and social events. The space had to draw colleagues back to the workplace post pandemic as a welcoming and efficient destination to work from.
What We Did
We created an inclusive space with a local seaside theme.
The surrounding area formed our coastal design theme which was key to the colleague experience. Our scheme included custom-made beach huts, seaside foliage and braille signage, with design influenced by the curved shape of the building and the stunning views out to sea. The seating area became a destination, a space that would be used throughout the day, not just for breakfast and lunch.
We developed the concept of deconstructed beach huts.
Promoting colour and wellbeing through enhanced lighting, natural materials and biophilia, we elevated a historically plain and corporate space into a vibrant new environment.
