A new modern, sustainable space to support Mazars' ambitious growth
Mazars retained their place as a significant part of the business community in Sutton by moving in to a new sustainable, energy efficient building at Sutton Point.
Our brief was to create a space that enabled staff to work in an agile, collaborative way in a single purpose-designed, modern space, as the move brought teams from different offices together to support Mazars’ ambitious growth plans. A space that supports the Mazars brand, whilst delivering a unique experience for staff and visitors alike.
The space was mostly split in to two areas, front of house and back of house, to greater enhance the experience for both visitors and staff by having clearly specified areas for both. In the front of house, the focus was on creating a welcoming environment for Mazars’ varied visitors and to achieve this feel we designed dedicated meeting room, tea-points and bathroom facilities, ensuring that all visitor enjoyed a personal experience away from the hustle and bustle of the main workspace.
The back office has been designed to encourage and facilitate a new and modern way of working for the company. Throughout the area there is a variety of workstation and meeting options, with a mixture of static and sit-stand desking used in open plan space. In addition to the fixed desk workstations, we also designed a bespoke hot-desking area to support the diverse working needs of the team and encourage movement within the company. As a part of the open plan space, the area is segregated by a beautiful overhead slatted frame. The timber slat elements create a statement feature within the office and effectively create a secure and enclosed environment for the staff who choose to work from it. Collaboration facilities are prevalent throughout with soft seating areas, project rooms, agile meeting rooms and informal booths providing a suitable setting for any type of meeting.
The heart of the office is the kitchen and breakout area. This is a modern and contemporary space that utilises the abundance of natural light coming through the floor to ceiling windows to create a bright, airy and distinctive separate space from the main office work areas. We incorporated stylish pendant lighting, a high bench table and café style seating into the design so that staff are provided with a space to relax and socialise, that can also be used effectively as another informal meeting area.
