A new site steeped in history
Once again it was our pleasure to collaborate with our long standing client and friends at Jellyfish, as we designed and delivered their brand new 4000 sqft workspace in Warrington. For this exciting move, Jellyfish chose the fabulous Malt Building, a site steeped in history thanks to it’s rich roots in the brewing industry dating back to 1786.
As works commenced on site just before the first lockdown of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the delivery of the project over a 4-week programme was not without it’s challenges. However, after a short period of shutdown and an implementation of new site-safety procedures, the project was able to progress as planned and the beautiful space was brought to life.
Many of the malt building’s original features have been accentuated and utilised as part of the design scheme, from the exposed red brick to the grain hoists. Our brief was to incorporate the modern and colourful aesthetic that is reminiscent of Jellyfish offices worldwide, whilst working in harmony with the historic architecture of the building and it’s local culture.
Introducing biophilic elements were key to the brief. By incorporating an installation of suspended planting and organically shaped feature pendant lighting, the vast spaces of the Malt building were immediately softened.
Creating distinctive zones according to task based working within the space, we worked closely with the Jellyfish team to create a relaxed and collaborative office environment that will support the team on their continued journey of growth.
